What I love about Pan's Labyrinth is that the story of the Spanish Civil War is told from the eyes of a little girl.

Guillermo del Toro brilliantly unravels the story across two parallel universes. One that reflects reality, and the other, a mirror of that reality in a fantasy world.

The symbolism that links the two worlds leads to a really rich discussion with the group.

It's just one of those films you can watch again and again and get something different out of it each time!

Film Club was awesome! I loved getting a hand-picked watch list over the summer and debriefing in Spanish after each movie. As a native Spanish speaker growing up in the US, this group helped me practice being more expressive outside of day-to-day family conversations. Sarah is an awesome teacher and knows how to facilitate discussions!
